Arnaud Sartre is not only our incoming Club Growth Director (CGD), he is also area Director of the Year. I was keen to catch up with Arnaud.
Arnaud, I remember you telling me about your home town, tell me more?
I was raised in Lyon, which is the third biggest city in France. Lyon is beautiful, it is just two hours from the sea, two hours from the Alps and two hours from Paris. Lyon probably has the best food in the world because of its traditional “bouchons” and many Michelin star chefs, probably the most famous being L’Auberge of Paul Bocuse.
The conference date is fast approaching and thanks to all those who have booked to date and we look forward to many more such bookings in the next 10 days as we really wouldn’t like you to miss the EARLY BIRD prices.
Your D91 Spring Conference Team has been working non-stop to bring you the greatest conference experience and a fantastic social weekend. We’ve set We believe that events like this are an opportunity for ALL Toastmasters to grow.
Additional to our workshop speakers this year, we will be honoured to have Dan Rex, the CEO of Toastmasters International as our key note speaker.
The long-awaited moment has arrived and we are now ready to reveal what each workshop will include.
The District Executive Committee will be meeting on the 26th of February 2017 to hold their third formal meeting to conduct business for the good of Toastmasters International in District 91. In addition to the meeting in the morning and to make the most of having the district leadership all together, it is our practice to hold training for our district leaders in the afternoon.
An outline of the agenda for the day can be viewed below. All Area and Division Directors are expected to attend as part of their obligations to our members. If you are not able to attend, you are asked to send an assistant in your place.
As a matter of note, all pertinent dates for District events are available on the District Calendar on this website and have been since the beginning of July 2016. All district leaders are expected to make themselves aware of these dates. If you have any questions please contact District Administration Manager Paul Rhys-Taylor.

Succession Planning – Already?!
Dear District 91 members and leaders,
I know it feels like a strange time to start thinking about the next group of leaders. If you’re anything like me, you’ve been through a bit of a shock at being elected to your role and you’ve experienced some awe when you’ve thought about the task ahead. However, you’ve built relationships with mentors and friends, you’ve had some training and you start to feel like you know what you’re doing. Surely it’s not time to hand over the baton just yet?
Well, no, it’s not quite time yet. You do have another few months to serve your members, see your vision come to fruition and develop your skills in leadership and communication. However, it’s never too early to start thinking about who you can ask to step up. Who can you nurture and encourage by suggesting they stand for election as a club officer or district leader? They may need some time to think about your suggestion, ask questions and seek advice from people they respect and admire.
“And first place and the District 91 Humorous Speech Champion for 2015…Selina Jones”. I gasped and jumped out of my seat as the room applauded. I couldn’t believe I had won!
But actually, I hadn’t won at all. Or rather, I certainly hadn’t won on my own – this was a real team effort, as I think all Toastmaster’s contests are. Read More
