New Club: London Southbank University

Deborah Johnston

‘I am delighted that the LSBU Toastmasters club has chartered. This is a fantastic opportunity for LSBU Business School students and staff. University Toastmaster clubs have been in operation worldwide and have delivered huge benefits to students in terms of their public speaking and leadership skills.  LSBU has a professional and technical focus and we want our students to graduate with the hard and soft skills needed to make progress in their career paths. We also see ourselves as being a supporting employer and we want to offer a range of ways that staff can continue to develop themselves.  I’m delighted that both our Business School and our HR colleagues have joined forces to support this initiative.  As a Distinguished Toastmaster myself, I know the benefits that Toastmasters brings and I’m looking forward to our Business School students and staff being able to benefit in the same way. LSBU’s motto is ‘no barriers to brilliance’ and Toastmasters is part of that promise.’
