The 1-21-100 Award – a Trifecta of Achievement

The 1-21-100 Incentive

What is the 1-21-100 incentive? I hear you ask. Well, it’s an important incentive for us at District 91. It comprises three key criteria that for the clubs that achieve them will mean that they are on the road to accomplishing excellence in both club and educational quality and in member growth. We think of it like a Trifecta running event as you need a balance of skills and to be good at all three events to triumph.

1 x Pathways Level Award per Member

The 1 means One Pathways Level award per member in the year. This aim encourages ALL members to take a full an active role in each meeting they attend as it helps create fun and energetic meetings and brings about a faster learning experience rather than certain members be passive spectators. In this way, each certificate of a Pathways educational award can act as a spur to booking in speeches regularly – a modest, manageable Key Performance Indicator!

21+ Members per Club is a Club in Good Standing

The 21 means having over 20 members, 21 or above in your club. From the perspective of club growth, the advantages are huge. Having over 20 members can help a Toastmasters club grow, provide more resources and opportunities for its members, and create a sense of energy and momentum that can help attract new members. It also means having a wider pool for selecting a strong committee which is important for the smooth running of clubs and maintaining club quality. Winning the 1-21-100 will be a major achievement for any club.

100% Pathways Enrolment

100 indicates 100% Pathways enrolment. This means that a Club’s members are universally engaged in an educational programme that strengthens their communication and leadership skills as they grow toward personal and professional success—all while having fun with others in the process! It’s why we as a District we want all members to be enrolled on Pathways.

District 91 Program Quality Director, Diane Richardson and District 91 Club Growth Director, Debbie Williams both give their verdict on the importance of this award for their roles.

Diane says:

The aim at Toastmasters is to offer a great experiential learning experience using Pathways.

Which is why 100% Pathways enrolment will help you strengthen your communication and leadership skills as you grow toward personal and professional success—all while having fun with others in the process! Which is why we want all members to enrol in pathways.

The easiest way to demonstrate to others that you “the member” is benefiting from membership of Toastmasters is for you to show your progress by showing your certificate educational award, especially in corporate clubs where it may be an individual’s KPI. One award per member also encourages members to take a full an active role in each meeting they attend as it helps create fun and energetic meetings and brings about a faster learning experience rather than be a passive spectators.”

Program Quality Director, 2022-2023

Debbie says:

“Specifically, having over 20 members provides an opportunity for more members with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives and can help members learn from one another.  It facilitates the ability for clubs to have more resources at their disposal, such as more experienced members who can mentor newer members and more potential speakers and evaluators for each meeting.

It can also create a sense of momentum and energy, attracting more new members to clubs.  Lastly, Toastmasters International recognises clubs with more than 20 members as Distinguished Clubs, which can provide a sense of pride and accomplishment for members and help attract new members looking for a club with a strong reputation.”

I wish all clubs the best in achieving this prestigious award.

So let’s keep going towards this prestigious 1-21-100 award. We’ll be hoping more Clubs qualify this year. Winners to be announced in May 2023. Thanks Diane for creating these excellent images.
