News from PR Manager – Helena Brewer

The great thing about Toastmasters is that when you ask for help and support you receive it and so much more.

I’ve been approaching members about writing articles for the newsletter and sharing experiences for our external PR activities. Even though we’re all part of a communications organisation, the written word is proving to be a new challenge. The response has been amazing, thank you.

If you are interested in sharing your Toastmasters stories, what you need to provide me with is your draft text and a photo of you. If possible it’s recommended that you have your club banner in the background too. Please write up to 500 words, happy if you go over, though to no more than 1000, about something to do with Toastmasters. e.g. an event that you helped put together, using social media to attract new members etc… Sharing these stories of your experiences with others can be the gentle push some members are looking for and in other cases your stories are inspirational.

Toastmasters Information

Your club VPPRs received an email from me back in September with all the different websites, resources and links available to them. Check with your club’s VPPR about the Toastmasters resources and information that you can use.

Your Details

At a Toastmasters event recently, I was asked if D91 had a website. The answer, yes we do! d91toastmasters.org.uk  Other requests I’ve received are to update members’ email and postal addresses. No I can’t, but you can.

As a test at your club, check – is everyone one receiving their monthly Toastmasters magazine?  You may be reading this newsletter but are all your fellow club members?

If not, then they will need to check which details are held on the “My Toastmasters” section of the Toastmasters International website. How? By logging on at www.toastmasters.org, and clicking the “My Toastmasters” tab.

Some members have never looked at the Toastmasters International website and may require guidance from more IT savvy members. This may require the member having to reset their username and password. For club VPPRs and all members, help and support each other. This way, you can stop handing around the monthly magazine on a rota basis, each member will have their own copy!
