First let me start with a thank you to Porthcawl Speakers for inviting me to their fantastic charter dinner evening. A great event to celebrate their club chartering. Already there are photos on Facebook on the night.
This month launches the club growth initiative and join me in welcoming four new clubs to our district.
Club Growth Initiative
There is a new initiative to support our work on club growth in London. Graeme Phillips is promoting a Division C sponsored club growth committee as his High Performance Leadership project, reporting into me as Club Growth Director. This will be a welcome boost in achieving our District goals. If any members would like to undertake a similar initiative outside Division C then please do let me know.
New Clubs in District 91
Welcome to our four newest clubs, Bristol Central Speakers, CDK Hungerford Speakers, Infineum Milton Hill Speakers, and Tottenham Speakers.
Let the Presidents tell you more in their own words:
About one year ago, North Avon Speakers Club asked a small team of members to run a second branch to cater for rapid growth in club size. After a year of building our own identity and some challenges finding the perfect venue we are finally chartered as Bristol Central Speakers. We have both experienced members, highly motivated new members, and a twist of Bristol fun in the mix. We are very proud of this club.

CDK Hungerford Speakers is a corporate Toastmasters Club based in Hungerford in the Berkshire countryside. We love the club because it allows members to develop key skills relevant to our business and helps our internal networks grow. Since starting the club last year we have raised awareness of the club through our own marketing initiatives and have had an incredible amount of support from CDK and the Toastmaster organisation.

The Infineum Milton Hill Speakers is a new club to District 91 but Toastmasters is not new to Infineum. We have 38 eager members and still growing. We are so new, we are trying to establish all the behind the scenes mechanics to have a well-oiled, smoothly running club. All the members of our club are also our colleagues within our organisation, Infineum. There are just 3 of us on the committee just now but we hope to have a full complement soon. We are still finding our way and have had fantastic support from Mary Robson and Don O’Neal, we even have run our first Speech Contest on table topic talks, in which 9 people competed. Infineum is one of the world’s leading formulators, manufacturers and marketers of fuel and lubricant additives and as such we have sites all over the world. There is an established Toastmasters club that is also part of Infineum based in New Jersey (Club 798409, Area 65, Division F, District 83), which has just had its 10th year anniversary. And our colleagues in Shanghai have indicated their intention to try and open up a Toastmasters chapter over there. Thanks everyone for the welcome and I please keep an eye out for our members coming along as guests to your meetings!
Giulia Sette, President
Tottenham Speakers is a fun and friendly club, which I had the privilege of joining a year and a half ago. I am proud to be part of this club and the unity and fellowship found within it has led to our most recent achievement of reaching the goal of becoming an official charted club. I have witnessed a huge amount of growth among our members, as well as within myself and I am so excited about what the future has in store for Tottenham Speakers. We thrive on unity and all guests (whether you are an experienced speaker, or not so experienced) are welcome to join in our club experience.
