Let’s end our year with some VA-VA-Voom!
It’s nearly time to close out this Toastmasters program year, and yet, there’s still so much to do!
Let’s Become the Distinguished District
Congratulations to our 89 clubs that have achieved Distinguished or above so far. With only weeks to go to the end of June, to reach 100 clubs and for our District to become Smedley Distinguished, just 11 more clubs need to achieve Distinguished or above, and we there. With the challenges of this year being fully online, that is exciting and an achievement well worth celebrating!
How can we reach 100? Some clubs need more members, it is that simple. Invite guests back, bring friends along, ensure meetings are interesting and engaging, as clubs aim to beat the clock. Some clubs require educational goals and are actively seeking speaking slots at other clubs. The flurry of activity by members to achieve their educational goals, to support their club on the Distinguished Club Program in this year, is fantastic to witness, keep on going!
There is plenty of handover activity going on from committees at all levels. Remember, the date for submission of your club officer lists is 30 June. This counts towards your club’s Distinguished Club Program points, and is one of the easiest to gain. If you are an incoming club officer, check that your club’s list has been submitted. So far, 83 clubs have, leaving 98 that haven’t.
Let’s Review New Materials
Toastmasters International has updated club materials for the year ahead too, with updated:
- Club Leadership Handbook, and
- Distinguished Club Program and Club Success Plan Handbook
And let me thank you!
Thank you to all our members, officers and leaders for your commitment, your achievements and continued support in the most challenging of years.
My personal thanks to the Program Quality Team members: Liz Hobbs, Andy Hessey, Sam Warner, Guler Cortis, Neil Coleman and Alistair Barton.
Let’s end the year with a celebration, let’s push on for Smedley Distinguished on Distinguished Clubs and bring on the va-va-voom!
