Meet A Toastmaster: Andrew P. Bennett

Evaluation Contest Winner 2021/22 (District 91)

Andrew is a member of Berkeley Square Speakers, Excalibur Speakers and Experience French in D91, as well as Digital Communicators in D71 and Firebirds Collective.

How do you feel about winning the contest?

I was thrilled to win D91 Evaluation contest, but even more thrilled to compete with such a great team of fellow finalists!

What did you learn while preparing for this contest?

Preparing for any of our Toastmasters contests is a great speaking discipline. It keeps you focussed on content, delivery and timing.

What would you recommend other people who hesitate about contests?

Don’t hesitate to join in with your club contests, even if you feel relatively new to Toastmasters. You will consolidate your speaking skills and you will experience growth as a speaker.
Speech contest are and should be fun, a highlight amid our yearly Toastmasters activities.

What is your next challenge?

I must now get around to creating an Evaluation workshop for our Toastmasters. Last year after winning D91 Table Topics I put together a Topics workshop, alongside Your Engaging Voice, my voice workshop which has proved so very popular. I like to plough back into the District and beyond the benefits of that contest experience.

I think Toastmasters works best because we share our skills and invest in each others development as speakers and leaders.
