News from Pedro Casillas DTM, Program Quality Director

Recent DOT (District Officer Training) saw 87% of Division and Area Directors attending an excellent day of Toastmasters education. A fantastic turnout!

Sessions concentrated on Division and Area Directors working together to discuss and plan the year ahead with topics including:

  • The rise in Toastmaster club dues in October and the plans clubs will need to discuss
  • MOT (Moments of Truth) – an excellent discussion which focused on all the great things we do well in our clubs and those areas where we can make improvements.
  • COT (Club Officer Training) planning session with Division and Area Directors discussing content and organisation for the sessions ahead.

There was a great sense of teamwork in the room, with Division Directors working with their Area Directors to discuss the ‘how’ and ‘when’ of implementing their goals for the year ahead. There were many exciting ideas, including, from Division L, the promotion of HPL (High Performance Leadership) manual, with recommendations for members who have completed the award to write a case study of their experience to be made available via the D91 website for other members to review and learn from.

Other ideas included the hosting of whole day education workshops – something that Division B have been hosting.

The day ended with Division and Area Directors returning to home to start setting up their COT (Club Officer Training) sessions for incoming Club Committees as well as planning for Autumn Competitions (Humours Speech and Table Topics).

I am sure all these COT sessions will be not only educational, but really entertaining as well. I am looking forward to working with such a great team as we strive to continue to build on the achievements of last year’s DLT and aim to raise the quality of member’s TM experience across D91 even higher!
