Division C

Division C held their Humorous & Table Topics Contests on the splendid venue of London Business School. On a marvellous autumnal Saturday morning, the (almost) packed Lecture Room enjoyed a Humorous Contest consisting of an array of personal Humorous stories.

Key personalities to these Contests were: Paul Walsh as Cheif Judge, and Jill Segal as Contest Chair. The many and varied Facilitators were recruited by Shaheen Mufti (Early Bird Speakers) plus able support from Area Directors: Elaine Lawrence, Dave Longley and Florian Allwein.

The Table Topics Contest required impromptu descriptions about the ‘Twitter generation’.

Humorous Speech Contest: 1st Ola Aralepo, 2nd David Jones, 3rd Luke Pearce.

Table Topics Contest: 1st Mark Hanly, 2nd Jamie Hamer, 3rd Renee Sterling.

All round this was a ‘Jolly Good Show’.

Division H

We celebrated the best Speakers in the South East of England in our Division H mini conference with over 70 in attendance. It all started with a workshop from Ann Carver (Author, Coach, Entrepreneur, Yoga teacher and Student) on Authentic Compassionate Communication.  Next, our Contest Chair Mike Majuru introduced the Humorous Speech contest which saw a terrific panel of speakers battling for the top spot which was eventually taken by Fern Lulham.

A short break and then we moved on to Table Topics where 5 contestants gave us their best on “What does Success in life mean to you?”. Andrew Joyce took first place and gave a captivating, inspiring and riveting speech. We look forward to see both Fern and Andrew at the Gatwick conference on 4th November!

Humorous Speech Contest: 1st Fern Lulham, 2nd Chris Murphy, 3rd Paul Dowdeswell.

Table Topics Contest: 1st Andrew Joyce, 2nd Samir Malak, 3rd Amanda Zwartz.

We had a wonderful contest at London Business School on 14 October. It was a lovely afternoon and the session started with keynote speeches from Simon Bucknall and Dallas Leigh-Martene. Cat Kipling (Area 9 Director) led the Humorous Speech Contest and Kavita Dulai (Area 61 Director) led the Table Topics Contest. The contestants spoke on a wide range of topics and had everyone in splits. All the functionaries rendered strong support and voted for the following winners:

Humorous Speech Contests: 1st Warren Sheng.

Table Topics Contests: 1st Jane Harries .

We look forward to cheer them as they compete successfully at the District contest on 4November.
