Toastmasters Year End Tips #1

For all our club leaders…as we count down to the end of the Toastmasters year and the beginning of the new Toastmasters year, we will be sending through regular tips for success throughout the month.  We both hope that they will be helpful to both outgoing and incoming leadership teams.

Finishing off this Toastmasters Year in Style

Beat the Clock with Special Year End Events

Make it your club’s goal to earn the “Beat the Clock” award and encourage every member to take part. Clubs adding five new, dual or reinstated members with a join date between May 1 and June 30 receive a ribbon for the club’s banner and a special 10% discount from the Toastmasters store.  We will also display details of successful clubs in our Hall of Fame!

We would love to see every club run a special year end meeting where you invite past members and guests to return and celebrate the year’s success with you.  Invite them to join up!  If your club is full, let them know about other clubs near you they could be part of.

Distinguished Plus

What can you do to stretch your club to achieve the highest distinguished status you can?  How can you help your members achieve the goals they set for this year? Have you recorded all of your educational awards?

Membership Growth – Your District Needs You!

Last year we were proud to be a Presidents Distinguished District in our first ever year of operation, a very rare and special achievement.

We are really close to being Presidents Distinguished this year too – and we need the help of every club to achieve that goal.

We will only make it if we register as many members as we can this month before year end.  Whether they are reinstated members, new members or from newly chartered clubs, every one will take us closer to our goal. So if you can contribute, please do.  Your district needs you!

You can keep track of how we are doing together both on our website and on the Toastmasters International dashboard.

Getting Ready for Next Year

AGMs and Elections

Has your club held its annual general meeting and elected its incoming officer team yet?  Well done to all those who have.  If you haven’t yet, do make sure you do it during June, so the new team is in place for the new year.

If you need guidance, check out the club leadership handbook or ask your area director for help.

Submitting Officer Lists

Help set up next year’s team for distinguished programme success from the start by informing TI of who your incoming leadership team is – you can do that in club central on the Toastmasters website.

Handovers

Use this time before the beginning of the Toastmasters year to help your incoming team get ready for success with strong handovers – there are lots of resources on the Toastmasters website to help you share knowledge with them.

We hope these tips are useful to you.  Do let us know if there is any other help that would be useful this month to end the year with success and kick off a brilliant 2016 17.
