Relevant work experience and how it relates to Toastmasters and your role as a District leader:

My background is in sales and business development having worked for a number of high profile media organisations. I also have experience as an independent entrepreneur and understand the need to strategically plan for success. I will bring this experience to the role of District Director.

What experience do you have in strategic planning?

I contributed to Club, Area, Division and District Success Plans, which has helped me to plan for strategic success in each of those areas. Examples include achieving 10 DCP Points and Presidents Distinguished Status as Club President, Area Director, Distinguished Area Status, and doing a joint role of Division Director and Conference Director with strategic planning and successful teams

What experience do you have in the area of finance?

My professional experience includes managing my own P&L and I am a treasurer for a local charity managing the complexities of setting up a new finance system, procedures and payment systems.  Also as District Conference Director 2022, I had to develop strong project management skills, including the ability to create timelines, set priorities, and manage budgets.

What experience do you have in developing procedures?

Throughout my career, I have set up new systems, sales procedures and training and as a result of that, I have gained an understanding that it’s important to be open to using existing systems and processes when appropriate, while also being willing to adapt and modify them as needed and this has been applied successfully within Toastmasters.

What lessons did you learn from previous leadership positions?

Collaboration and teamwork are important for a clear understanding and respect for procedures, while effective communication of vision, goals and expectations is essential for the wider team. The importance of prioritising the growth and success of others and the District, and the need to be flexible and adaptable.

Why do you want to serve as a District leader?

As a District Director, I will be in a position to make a significant contribution with the opportunity to work with leaders from across the district to develop and implement initiatives that benefit members and clubs, helping to promote growth and success. I would like to inspire others to follow in my footsteps and to see them benefit from the experience and opportunities of leadership.

In your opinion, what are the District mission’s major objectives and how would you work to achieve them?

The District’s objectives are to build new clubs and support all clubs in achieving excellence. I will work with other leaders in the district to develop a strategic plan that supports the district’s mission. I will work to foster a positive and supportive environment where members feel valued and supported whilst promoting a culture of inclusivity and diversity.
